Description
I discovered these belts a few years back. At the time, they were unique and elegantly simple belts and no-hole buckles made by a (once small) American company out of Utah called Grip6.
At that time I was asking myself the question of whether or not I should pay a little over a hundred bucks at that time for a three belt bundle kit from Grip6 featuring these belts. I ultimately took the plunge and, in my opinion, these belts have been worth every penny and then some! The original ones I have are made of a durable webbed fabric that resists fraying and they secure very snugly, the way the buckle works eliminates the age old problem of having extra belt sticking out, and the multiple styles of interchangeable belt buckles also really allows you to mix and match to fit your outfit. I’ve since bought two more and my closet now hosts 5 different colored Grip6 belts with five different Grip6 buckle styles for a total of twenty-five different belt combinations! They also make a stylish branded hanger that allows you to hang up to 6 belts in one place. It’s pretty sleek.
So far I’ve worn these for over three years in both urban and outdoor environments and they’re still going strong. I’ve also read comments online from others who have also mentioned using them as utility belts or sidearm carry belts; I haven’t tried this myself and can’t confirm it, but based on my experience I wouldn’t be surprised if these were up to that job. The only downsides I’ve seen in three years are that a) the unique buckle takes a little bit of getting used to in terms of putting the belts on and taking the belts off, but it’s not too hard to figure out*, b) due to the flat, plate-like nature of many of the metal buckles, especially the painted ones, do tend to show scratches more readily after a bit of wear.
As with everything here, your mileage may vary, but aside form the notes above, I have nothing but positive things to say about these. If you’re interested in a belt or two, it’s my hope you might find them as useful as I have over the years.
(Product Protip)
* After running the belt through all beltloops, if you feed the belt through the front of the buckle (into the empty slit) while holding the buckle at an angle with the empty slit against you. This makes sure that you can get any excess belt tucked nicely between your waist and the back of the belt/buckle.
